Gaia's Garden, Auroville, India – page 1

in January, we stayed two weeks in Gaia's Garden Guest in Auroville. We had stayed before and have always enjoyed it. In our interest in staying at a single place for a longer time, we returned in August and stayed four months through the end of November. A longer stay begs for more pictures. So here, in two segments, is Gaia’s Garden Guest ran by Kireet and Gaya, a Dutchman and a Korean.

Gaia's Garden windmill
A windmill whirls most of the time on top of Gaia’s main building. It supplements grid electricity charging batteries that are used when the power grid is not working and that is often—at least once a day. There is also a solar water heater and water storage tank there on the roof. (1 Nov 2014)
Gaia's Garden
After I took this picture, I saw the “helicopter” behind the windmill. When I enlarged it, it proved to be one of the thousands of dragon flies that were flying all over in response to the monsoon rains. Here it is.

Frances room in Gaia’s Garden.
Frances room in Gaia’s Garden has been our home for four months. We have been to Gaia’s Garden before and this has always been our favorite room. Windows face all four directions. The breeze cools the room almost all the time, that is, it cools the room to the temperature of the air outside. (27 Jan 2014)
