Adowa to Asmara

After our day in Axum, we returned to Adi Abun in the late afternoon. Without stopping at our hotel, we continued on to Adowa, a typical Ethiopian town, a town with little Italian influence. Adowa was the second capitol of Tigray province. Makele on the eastern road south of Adigrat was the principal capital.

Coptic Churches

Adowa had several Coptic churches, most in the traditional round style. We stopped at Enda Selassie (Trinity Church), one of the more famous. It sat on a small hill surrounded by a stone wall with two gate houses. ...
